How I work, what you get, what I need from you and what happens if either of us wants to stop. Written to be read, not to hide behind.

These terms apply to design and development work carried out by Sites by AJ, a sole trader business run by Adam on the Wirral, United Kingdom, for you as the client. They apply from the moment you pay a deposit.
Anything specific we agree by email, text or WhatsApp about your particular project sits on top of these terms and takes priority over them.
Before any work starts I will tell you what is being built, what it costs and roughly how long it will take. The price quoted covers the work described and nothing beyond it. If you later want something that was not part of that description, I will quote for it separately rather than quietly absorb it or quietly drop something else.
Builds are split 50% to start and 50% on completion, before the site goes live on your domain. Payment is handled through GoCardless. Monthly care plans are billed monthly in advance.
Flexible payment options such as Klarna, Clearpay and PayPal are offered through my payment provider and are subject to their approval, not mine. Where a build is paid that way, the agreement about the instalments is between you and that provider.
I need your content: text, photos, logo, prices, opening hours, whatever the site needs to say. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use everything you send me, and that what it says is accurate. That matters most for regulated claims. If you are a clinic, the rules on advertising prescription-only medicines are yours to comply with, and I will build the site to respect them.
Projects usually stall for one reason, which is waiting on content. If a project goes quiet for more than 60 days I may invoice for the work completed to that point and close it.
Revisions during the build are unlimited. We go back and forth until the site is how you want it. That covers refining what was agreed, not rebuilding it as something different. A change of direction after the design is signed off is new work and gets quoted as new work.
Most sites are delivered within 5 to 7 days of getting started, and I will give you a clear timeline upfront. Delivery estimates depend on getting your content and your feedback, so they are estimates rather than guarantees.
Once the final payment clears, the site is yours: the design, the content and the code. No lock-in, no licence to renew, and I will hand over whatever you need to take it elsewhere. Until it is paid for in full it remains mine.
Third party components such as fonts, stock images and payment providers keep their own licences, and those pass to you on the same terms I hold them.
Unless you ask me not to, I may show the finished site in my portfolio and link to it.
Care plans are rolling monthly with no minimum term. Cancel any time by telling me before the next payment date and it stops at the end of the month you have paid for. Payments already made are not refunded pro rata.
If you cancel, the site remains yours and I will help you move it to another host. Hosting is on Cloudflare, which is about as reliable as it gets, but I cannot promise a website will never go down and I do not offer a guaranteed uptime figure.
Every site I build is set up properly for Google and for AI search engines. That is the part I control and I stand behind it. Where you actually rank is decided by Google, by ChatGPT and by your competitors, and nobody can promise a position on any of them. Anyone who does is guessing. Any ranking result shown on this site is a point-in-time observation, not a forecast of what yours will do.
If something goes wrong that is genuinely my fault, my liability is limited to the amount you have paid me for that project. I am not liable for lost profit, lost bookings or lost data.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited. If you are buying as a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.
Either of us can walk away. If you cancel after work has started, the deposit covers the work done and is not refundable. If I cancel, I will refund anything paid for work I have not done and hand over what has been built.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
